First day of school!

Yep, it’s totally that time of year again! Time for school! Here’s a photo of the kids before going to the bus stop today. Aren’t they just cute? Here’s a link to last year’s photo. Doesn’t time just fly by?

So the kids had new outfits on the first day. I think they just look too cute! I took lots of photos, here are Deanna’s and here are Megan’s. Most are the same, but I like to keep them divided for organization’s sake.

Here’s Megan up close. She was really excited to go to school. She was up and dressed by 7:30! That’s early for our house! I think the outfit is adorable. It was a hand-me-down from the neighbor and still in perfect condition. Good for school and she kept it clean all day. Yea!

Here is my third grader! It’s hard to believe that Deanna is already in third grade, but she is. She picked out some nice new clothes and cute outfits. Thanks to MeMaw for gift cards to JCPenney’s for Deanna!

Well, we are into day two and they weren’t as excited to wake up and go to school, but that’s life! Deanna said she was tired and we had that wonderful conversation about if they’d just go to bed on time…you know that one!

Camping trip 2008

Filed under:Deanna, Jonathan, Kathryn, Megan, Pamela, Richard — index @ 4:18 am

Yes, it was time to go camping before the summer ended! We spent three night and four days at our campsite in Virginia Beach and had a great time. We have LOTS of photos for you to check out.

Here’s a photo of the family having frito pie at our first night camping. It was really good! We cooked on the grill and cooked over the fire. Lots of fun.

We also went to the beach and had a great time. We went to the pool too and the playground and saw some cartoons at the movie area at the travel park.

Here’s a photo of me and Jonathan that Richard took. Had to get me in a picture sometime!  This is a place that we will definitely go to over and over again even if we move away from this area. It’s a blast and the kids like it (and so does Richard!).

One more picture for the post (check out all 200+ that I took to see all the fun we had) of the kids roasting hot dogs over the open fire. They loved having the fire and we made smores as a special treat.

Overall, it was a great vacation and I wish we could have visited the beach more during the summer, but maybe we can squeeze it in one more time before school starts in two weeks!

Family Night at Applebee’s!

Filed under:Deanna, Jonathan, Kathryn, Megan, Richard — index @ 3:43 am

Tonight was Family Night at Applebee’s which means, it’ll be a cheap dinner out! Kids meals are only 99 cents and we had a gift card so we pretty much didn’t pay for anything! Yea!! That’s my kind of meal with this bunch!

But with Family Night, they have a nice gentleman walking around making balloon objects for a couple of hours. Deanna got a green dinosaur, Megan got a pink cat and Kathryn got a pink bear hugging a heart. It was a different evening for sure!

The pictures were taken with my iPhone so they aren’t great, but that’s all I had to capture the moment with. No flash on the phone!

I did manage to capture a cute picture of Jonathan and what kind of night would it be if I didn’t snap a photo of Richard! I guess I should have turned the camera around to take a photo of me, but I wouldn’t want the phone to break! It’s all I got! LOL!

I have posted more pictures of when we’ve visited the state park’s pool. We are going to the pool again Saturday with good friends of ours that are moving in September (boo hoo!) so it’ll be a nice time. We also have at least one more time planned in August before the pool closes and school starts again. Eek!

We watched the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus 3-D concert on TV tonight. Here are the girls with their 3-D glasses on. It was pretty good! We enjoyed it!

The older two had checkups today so afterwards I took them to Burger King to play in the playground. Here is a cute picture of Jonathan up inside the playground. It was his first time inside and I think he had a good time.

The kids love just going some place to play that’s not making them all hot and sweaty with this hot weather!

Happy 4th of July!

Filed under:Deanna, Jonathan, Kathryn, Megan, Richard — index @ 8:21 pm

We had a fun time at Ft. Lee on the 4th of July. Too bad it started raining about 6pm. They called off the fireworks so we had to watch them on TV. Richard got to shoot off cannons at noon which he enjoyed, but was suppose to shoot them off during the 1812 Overture, but the Army band left because it rained. But here’s a video of him firing off the cannons at noon. We also have pictures from the day here. Enjoy!

Slip’n Slide Fun!

We had fun at church Sunday afternoon! We had a meal of hot dogs and hamburgers plus other great picnic goodies then the kids had a great time with the slip’n slide! I took lots of photos, check them out here. It was almost too short for the taller kids, but they still had fun! Jonathan didn’t like it too much. But we had a nice time.

Proof that I do get to go out

Yes, occasionally, I do get to go out with friends and have adult conversation and have fun too! I met three of my friends at a place called The Boathouse in Midlothian a few weeks ago for dinner. It’s an awesome place, right on a lake. We sat outside (the weather was perfect) and enjoyed a fun evening. Here’s a photo of me, Jen, her aunt and Elizabeth. Tricia is taking the picture.

I met Elizabeth when I first moved here, we were on the same online mom’s group, then she decided to start her own mom’s group so we stayed together on that one and it has gotten a little bit bigger and that’s where I met Jen and Tricia.  Jen’s aunt was in town and joined us for dinner.

We had a great time. I had sushi for the first time and it was good!  Elizabeth had it too and it totally didn’t fill us up so we each had a huge cookie and ice cream for dessert. Yummy! TTFN!
